Elaine Gibbons and Carla Satra are volunteer Rangemasters at the 200 yard
Rifle Range, at the Santa Clara County Field Sports Park.

We open this range for the public at large (weather permitting)
on the 4th Sunday of each month.. (not necessarily last Sundays)..

All other Sundays, including 5th Sundays of the month are scheduled
for DCM / CMP, or special events at the direction of the Field Sports Park
Management.

(Note that there is no 2-hour time limit at the 200 yard range)

Because access to a 200 yard rifle range is rare for the public at large,
without actually being a member of a structured club activity, many
visitors to our range travel from as far as 50 to 70 miles away.

This can pose complications if the scheduled one Sunday per month
is cancelled due to bad weather and someone has already left their
home and is enroute to the range.

For this reason, most of this page is dedicated to near real-time weather
information in order that visitors may have better information with which
to base a travel decision.

The 200 Yard range is open for public use on the 4th Sunday of each month from
0900 to 1500 hours unless one of the following conditions occur:

bulletHeavy rain prior to Sunday which would prevent use of the range
due to mud down range and standing water at the firing points

bulletRain occurring on Sunday morning of such extent as to prevent
use of the range because firearms and shooters will be getting wet.

If you are planning to leave your location BEFORE 0800 of the
scheduled range day, check this page for current weather
conditions.

If you are planning to leave your location AFTER 0800, call the range
office at 408-463-0652 and ask if it is raining. If rain is occurring,
the 200 yard facility will not be open.

Since most rain fronts move into the South San Jose area from
