Below are some recent photos of our latest ARMY MARS Communications exercise. This was a simulated major earthquake of an 8.6 magnitude, centered in Hayward California. This exercise was primarily for internal communications training and did not actually involve agencies outside of the ARMY MARS organization. Even so, it seemed worthwhile to participate in this exercise as if it were the real thing. I set up my comvan at the Battalion #2 Headquarters Station in San Jose, California, along with the M101A1 trailer and generator set. This exercise lasted for a 2-hour period and was an opportunity to deploy all the gear in a fashion to what the military would call an "Operational Readiness Exercise" A couple of our City of San Jose OES/RACES volunteers showed up to help out, including our Chief Radio Officer, Dr. Earl Stevens. Below are some photos of this event: On the left is Fire Captain Carlos Miller of Station #19
