August 18th, 2001:

bulletDon Trask forwarded a nice copy of the
"Amateur's Code", which  will be incorporated into this
web-page once an appropriate place is found.
I've seen this in ARRL literature many times over the years,
and has good points to keep in mind...

July 28th, 2001 Meeting notes from the SVECS Breakfast:

bulletAn announcement was made that the WB6ADZ repeater will not have either encode or decode PL available for the next few weeks. The ADZ repeater is running with a back-up controller which does NOT support PL.

Keep this in mind when using the ADZ machine that you will have to have PL turned off on your mobile or hand-held in order to copy traffic..

bulletLeague Announcements:
bulletBrad Wyatt requests that radio amateurs contact their U.S. Senators and Congressmen regarding House Bill number HR817 and voice support for passage.

HR817 is the latest version of the Amateur Radio Spectrum Protection Act, and provides for replacement of any radio spectrum that is reallocated away from the amateur radio service.

bulletBrad also indicated that the ARRL has submitted a request for proposed rulemaking for 150 KHz of spectrum in the 5 MHz region, for a new "60-meter" band.

bulletThe League is also discussing an amendment to the 1991 Telecommunications Act, that will address CC&R's, also known as "restrictive covenants". This relates to the installation of Amateur Radio antennas.

bulletSVECS is now hosting an email list at yahoogroups, specifically related to public service events in the Santa Clara Valley that require amateur radio support. Use of the event calendar is encouraged. For further information, visit:

He is also part of a public education/outreach program related to the use of 911.
