August 18th, 2001:
 | Don Trask forwarded a nice copy of the
"Amateur's
Code", which will be incorporated into this
web-page once an appropriate place is found.
I've seen this in ARRL literature many times over the years,
and has good points to keep in mind... |
August 13th, 2001:
 | Below is the link for this week's 2001 Police and Fire
Summer Games:

July 28th, 2001 Meeting notes from the SVECS Breakfast:
 | An announcement was made that the WB6ADZ repeater will not
have either encode or decode PL available for the next few weeks.
The ADZ repeater is running with a back-up controller which does
NOT support PL. |
Keep this in mind when using the ADZ machine that you will
have to have PL turned off on your mobile or hand-held in order to
copy traffic..
 | League Announcements:
 | Brad Wyatt requests that radio amateurs contact their
U.S. Senators and Congressmen regarding House Bill number
HR817 and voice support for passage.
HR817 is the latest version of the Amateur Radio Spectrum
Protection Act, and provides for replacement of any radio
spectrum that is reallocated away from the amateur radio
service.
|
 | Brad also indicated that the ARRL has submitted a
request for proposed rulemaking for 150 KHz of spectrum in
the 5 MHz region, for a new "60-meter" band.
|
 | The League is also discussing an amendment to the 1991
Telecommunications Act, that will address CC&R's, also
known as "restrictive covenants". This relates to
the installation of Amateur Radio antennas.
|
 | SVECS is now hosting an email list at yahoogroups,
specifically related to public service events in the Santa
Clara Valley that require amateur radio support. Use of the
event calendar is encouraged. For further information, visit:

participating.
|
 | Hours will be 0800-1800 hrs, and people can sign up

|
 | The guest speaker for this meeting was Dave Schultheis,
WB6KHP, who is one of the public safety dispatchers
from the Santa Clara County Dispatch Center. He is also part
of a public education/outreach program related to the use of
911. Dave gave an excellent talk on how amateur radio
operators should use 911 when calling either by amateur radio
auto-patch or from cellphones. |
