I'd like to preface a statement here that I'm not into doing banner ads on my site.
As you have noticed, over all the pages at Tactical-Link Systems, I do not make
a practice of banner ads.

I feel they tend to be distracting from the main purpose of this site, which is to
build a community of those that enjoy using tactical ruggedized and milspec radio
equipment outdoors.

With that said,  I do want to pass on some info on an excellent internet site that is for the express purpose of providing mapping, GPS-related materials, mapping software,
and accessories.

After surfing the net for several hours a few months ago, I found that the site identified below is the best I've ever seen and has a full range of products for land-navigation.

If you are in need of special map rulers, advanced models of precision compasses
GPS receivers, and accessories, and especially mapping software to use with
GPS receiving equipment, I cannot speak more highly of the freshmapstracks internet site as a source for such material.

One weekend, I spent several hours trying to find a source for a Garmin GPS-III+
and also some special map scales for use with both civilian and military maps,
and this is the place, to visit. Please let Dave Bentley know that I referred you.

Please also take some time to browse their product line. Consider this a personal recommendation and not just an "ad" in the typical sense:

Especially take the time to see their complete source of excellent compasses
and map-rulers!!

Wire-Antenna Adaptor, MS542/B:

We have been asked to place the MS542/B antenna adaptor back in
production, as this item is difficult or impossible to find on the surplus market.

The unit is machined  from solid brass and is designed with the same thread-pitch as the lower thread of the MS116 Mil-Std antenna rod sections. These adaptors will thread into the AB15, MP65, AB652, and other similar-series whip antenna bases which are commonly found on tactical vehicles.

The advantage of this adaptor is that it will allow an efficient and reliable connection
of a wire antenna to the whip-antenna base assembly.

The photos below are of this unit being used to connect a 50-foot end-fed wire
antenna to a comm-shelter  for use with the Motorola MICOM-2R HF radio.
The wire antenna  is tuned with the companion Motorola Autocoupler.

The physical load of the antenna system is via a carabiner that is attached to
the tie-down shackle on the corner of the S144 shelter.

See photo details below...

This adaptor will be available once orders are received
that will allow a production run of 20 units at one time,
at  which time a production run will be made in our shop.

Price will be $20.00 ea + $2.50 shipping via
First-Class Postage to any CONUS address:

Note that the photo above is of a unit that is a slightly
lighter-duty version and was machined from solid copper.
The later production is heavier-duty than that shown and is
machined from solid brass..

As time allows, an updated photo of the newer design will
replace the photo above...

The adaptor is threaded at the top with a 10-32 thread
and is supplied with a knurled knob, washer, and lock-washer
that would grab a spade-lug that is attached to the down-lead
of the antenna wire.
