A friend of mine who lives here in Silicon Valley has a really
clean condition, military genset for sale, and I would like
to see this go to a member of the armyradios list.
I was over to visit Dan Smith, K6PRK, this week and I have
to say that this unit is in clean and running condition.
The unit is WWII vintage with a tag on it that says it was
overhauled/inspected in November 1955. The overhaul tag
indicates that Cylinder bore, Rod Journals, and
Main Journals are all within original spec. Apparently the
unit may have only had rings replaced due to age, and
this skid-mounted unit has few running hours on it.
Dan had cleaned out the gas tank and also coated the
inside of the tank with some fuel tank coating.
I was there while Dan started this unit up and it runs well.
This genset is interesting in that the exciter unit is also
used
as the starting motor, and has magneto ignition. It is
electric start and 12 volt positive ground.
Here are the details:
Model# WC4-7.5S
It uses a Ford, 4 cyl water-cooled tractor engine.
the genset was built by Onan and
is 115 v 60 cycle, single-phase 5 KW.
Sale price is $600 and this unit comes with the original
Army Technical manual which covers both the engine
and the AC generator portions.
Below are some photos of this skid-mounted unit. It appears
similar to a PE-95.

Below is a pix of the overhaul/inspection tag, this
is quite impressive that after overhaul the major components (listed below)
were still within factory tolerances.
