On Sept. 9, 2000 was the Scoutrageous festival held near Carver Oregon, in
Clackamas county. The shelter was setup there as a working display where we were
setup on the HF ham bands, we worked many Hams in various parts of the world
that day, especially all over Europe as a contest was occurring amongst the hams
in Europe.
The young scouts were very 'wide eyed when they were watching us speak with
someone in Yugoslavia or Russia. The purpose of the festival was to inspire
youth towards future pursuits and careers. The public and parents of the scouts
were invited, and about 15,000 people were there.
We estimated 1500 scouts looked inside our shelter, and a couple of them were
bold enough to take the microphone and speak to hams somewhere in the world.
