Below are photos and articles contributed by readers, or by me.

These can be classified as "weird stuff", by virtue of their being off-beat or unique in some way..

The next time you think about purchasing lantern batteries, remember this photo.  I've been an avid user of Eveready "Energizer" batteries for years, and never preferred either Duracell or Ray-O-Vac. My personal experience with Duracell is that I don't get the same usage out of an electronic device as I do with an Eveready product. Also with Ray-O-Vac, it always seems that they are prone to leak before either of the other two brands.

I was planning a trip with my partner and, at the time, we had a 1956 Jaguar XK-140 roadster. Nice car, but they are 12-volt positive-ground! Not very great when you are into electronics and ham radio. I had both a 2-meter Hand-held radio, and a radar detector that I wanted to use on the trip and decided to purchase two-sets of 12-volt lantern batteries as all four batteries fit perfectly into a standard .50 cal ammo box.

While on the trip, I finally ran one set of batteries down and hooked up the second set as my "reserve stash" of amp-hours. So the next stop at a hardware store, I started looking for 12-volt Eveready Energnizer-type lantern batteries, and all I could find were the Duracell brand. I also noticed that they didn't weigh as much as the Eveready brand. Since that was all that was available, I purchased the replacement set of Duracells. After arriving at home from our trip, I decided to take a Duracell, and an Eveready battery apart and see why the big weight difference.

It turns out that the Eveready 12-volt lantern battery uses size "F" cells inside, while the Duracell only uses size "D" cells. Big difference in capacity there!!

Anyway... here's the photo... Just remember... "What brand are you going to purchase next time??:
